The Art of Preventing Gut Problems

Lesson Eight

Yesterday we touched on soluble fibre. Today, we’d like to introduce you to the other type. Insoluble fibre. You need both to keep your gut healthy.

Foods that contain insoluble fibre can act as a laxative, which helps prevent constipation. You’ll find it in things like wholegrain cereals, brown bread and brown rice. The other brilliant thing about these foods is that they contain whole grains, which are packed with nutrients.

A word of warning though. If you add more fibre to your diet, you also need to drink more fluid. Just to help your digestive process along.

Next time you're in the supermarket, ignore the white bread, white pasta and white rice. Go for the wholegrain and wholemeal versions instead.
