Last time you looked, what colour was your urine?

The colour of your urine is one way your body can tell you how hydrated it is. If it’s pale and light in colour, then you’re fine. If it’s dark yellow, you’re probably not getting enough fluid.

Just being 5-10% dehydrated can make you feel tired and lacking in energy. Any more than that and you can become constipated. Not very nice at all.


Here are a few simple tips to help make sure you get enough of the wet stuff.

• Drink 6-8 glasses of fluid every day. Water’s best. But other fluids also count.
• Swap your coffee breaks for water breaks.
• Keep a bottle of water on your desk at work to remind you to take a drink.
• And don’t rely on thirst to tell you how hydrated you are. As guides go, it’s pretty poor.
